The Student Success Center (SSC) is one of the many services that the University offers students yet is rarely taken advantage of.
The Student Success Center is there to assist students with time management, encouragement of extra-curricular involvement, free tutoring, dealing with personal problems and choosing majors.
These are just some of the things that all college students at one point or another face during their four or more years in school.
Students can’t always rely on the support of friends or parents who may be miles away when faced with difficult moments in a college career.
Sometimes seeking help from roommates can be helpful because chances are they can empathize with you because they are going through the same tribulations.
On the flip side, receiving outside support can be just as successful if not more and won’t be biased in any way.
“No one really knows about the Student Success Center, and what they have to offer. I wish I had taken advantage of it,” senior Kim Rivera said.
Generally, no one ever wants to seem weak and when students think they have all the answers for everything, chaos can ensue. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case, and students will need to turn for help every so often in life.
Many students especially during the time of finals as the holidays are approaching feel the pressure from an immense amount of homework, studying, making time for their friends and of course getting home for the holidays.
This time of the semester is hard for not only freshmen that are experiencing this stress for the first time, but for seniors as well.
It never gets easier and that help is only a short walk over the bridge from the academic side. The Student Success Center welcomes all levels of students but puts a lot of focus on freshmen as they’re making the transition from high school to college to make their time spent at the University of Hartford as successful as possible.
A lot of the components of SSC will help freshmen ease their way in. The biggest thing that is a helpful function for transitioning into college is the assistance with time management.
It can be difficult when first entering college and even throughout four years in attendance. A special that is only available to freshmen are half price movie tickets and various events and activities to fill the social students may have.
“In your years here at the University of Hartford, You will have questions – we have answers, You will face challenges – we offer advice, You will need help – we know where to find it,” states SSC on their website.
