Send letter, save life

Although the weather at the end of last month made it feel like nature was making the Northeast take a step back from technology, many children in Tennessee are reminded of how precious life is daily.

Up Til Dawn was created on campus to provide support to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. by planning events to raise money and provide monetary donations.

St. Jude Children’s Hospital takes in any child needing care, free of charge, and is the reason it costs around $1.7 million to run the center daily. It provides every resource available for kids diagnosed with cancer as well other serious illnesses. Through their research St. Jude had increased the survival rate of juvenile leukemia by 90 percent and overall survival rates in children diagnosed by over 60 percent.

On campus, Up Til Dawn has pledged to help the organization known for their generosity. On Nov. 12 in Konover from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the club will be holding a Letter Sending event and providing food and entertainment for those who attend.

The group is asking those who attend to bring a minimum of 30 addresses to send pre-written donation requests in the name of St. Jude, with prizes provided to those bringing over 50 addresses.
