The University will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday because of the lack of power in upperclassmen housing and at the homes of faculty and staff.

“I love you,” said Director of Residential Life Michael Malone when he addressed students and resident assistants in the Gengras Student Union Monday night. Students without evacuation plans still remained in GSU when students’ and RAs’ questions were answered.

Einstein’s Bagel will operate Tuesday morning to provide dining services in addition to Commons and Hawk’s Nest, something to which students cheered for when announced in Gengras.

“If there’s easy things, little things we can do, we’ll try to make it work,” said Malone. As to whether students on campus should go home, Malone replied, “We’re not saying you should go home. We’re suggesting you use your best adult judgment.” Students were given 45 minutes to go back to their affected residences to gather belongings if they chose to leave campus after the meeting.

University officials will meet Wednesday afternoon to make decisions regarding the rest of the week. Although students will not receive text message updates they will be receiving emails or they can call Res Life at extension 7792.
