The hardworking, dedicated men and women of the Hartford Hawks’ NCAA Division-I athletic teams compete against the top ranked collegiate athletes in the country.
Hartford athletes endure intense training, practices and travelling for away games, but they get to play the sports that they love in exciting match-ups each season.
Although most of the players are recruited from high school teams, Hartford tennis, baseball and softball are currently holding tryouts for any undergraduate students who would like the opportunity to play D-I sports.
For students who want to play competitive sports without the D-1 commitment, there are plenty of intramural and club sports available to play at the University of Hartford.
These athletic teams thrive off of active student participation so, round up a few friends and join an existing sports team or start your own club sport.
Staying active in college helps keep your mind, body and grades on track.
The fall 2010 schedule for intramural sports incorporates a wide range of fun athletic activities for all University of Hartford students, including: tennis, sand volleyball, soccer, flag football, swimming, racquetball, basketball, badminton, and even kickball.
Paintball is one of the fastest-growing club sports at the University of Hartford; created back in 2002, the team is funded by the Student Government Association (SGA) and competes within the National Collegiate Paintball Association (NCPA).
They are currently ranked as the No. 1 team in New England and No. 8 team nationally for their 2010 season.
The paintball team is an extraordinary example of the endless possibilities that can come from club sports.
Attending University of Hartford sporting events is exciting, fun and a great opportunity to meet new people while supporting UHA’s dedicated Hawk athletes!
It is also a great opportunity for students interested in writing for the newspaper to report on games and interview players.
