The women’s team played extremely well, not giving up more than two games in any match. They started off with first and second doubles, with first-doubles pair Livia Blasque and Margaret Sabatino, winning 8-2, and second-doubles pair, Nicole Haynal and Kaitlin Lennon dominating their match, 8-1. Third-doubles won by forfeit.
Three singles players, including Sabatino, Epstein and Lennon, all were winners, 6-0, 6-0, while first singles player, Livia Blasque won 6-0, 6-1. Third singles, Nicole Haynal, had a harder time putting away her opponent, but won without a lot of fight, 6-4, 6-2.
The men’s team was much of the same, sweeping the day, with first-doubles pair, Aneil Bhalla and Marco Neves controlling much of the match with an 8-1 victory. Second-doubles Josh Isaacson and Eric Floum, and third-doubles Edgardo Ureta and Aaron Kooden both won 8-0, dominating their respective matches.
At first singles, Bhalla had a rough match, losing the first set 6-7 (3-7), but rallied for a 6-4 win in the second, and a 10-7 win in the third. After Bhalla though, the Hawks had a relatively easy afternoon, with Isaacson winning 6-2, 6-2. Neves, Floum and Kooden also won 6-0, 6-0, and Ureta defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-0.
The Hawks travel to Holy Cross on Wednesday for their second match in April, with both teams starting their matches at 3:30 p.m.
