Regents Awards Honor Students

The top students in each school for the graduating classes of 2010 and 2011 received accolades at a university sponsored dinner event. The Regents’ Honor Awards Banquet, held Friday, served to recognize students’ efforts in each college’s major.

Biliana Mihaylova, Informer staff writer, Tina Sandora and Sara Allen received the Solomon Elsner Award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout their studies at the university.

Amber LaPointe received the All-University Curriculum Award , Dean David Goldenberg presented Kayla Colbert and Brendan O’Neil with the Hillyer Associate Degree awards and presented Marybeth Perry and Patricia Ricupero with University Associate Degree Awards.

Dean R.J. McGivney presented the following part-time student awards: Merliee DeJohn received the Baccalaureate, Dianna Demers received the Ernest A. Dudley Award and Anna Braverman received the Alan S. Wilson award.

The deans of each school presented Junior Regents’ Honor Awards to each student receiving the award. In the College of Arts and Sciences, Anthony Benaquista and Ashley Katon-Donegal received awards. Hartford Art School students Ashley Poulin and Megan Truax received awards.

Dean James Fairfield-Sonn presented the awards to Barney School of Business students Jessica Gander and Hartford women’s basketball player Mary Silvia. From the College of Education, Nursing and Health Profesions, Kara T. Kuchachik and Regina Zito received their awards.

In the Hartt School, Caitlin Eger and Sarah Hansen received awards presented to them by Dean Aaron Flagg.In the College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture, Mahmoud As’Ad and Christofer Jasinski.

Finally, Tyler Varsell received the award in the University Studies school. The dessert portion of the banquet was in the form of awards presented to senior students. In the College of Arts and Sciences, Gili Goldfrad and Adrian Alexis Ruiz received awards.

In the Art School, Sara Allen and Michelle Podgorski received awards. For the College of ENHP, faculty members Marie Hopkins and Paige Bray presented Susan Hebert and Dionisia Rigby with their awards. In Hartt, Patrick Fiorillo and Mary Madeja both received special honors.

At CETA, Neftali Torres and Carl Vogel received awards. Joshua Bredickas received his award in the school of University Studies. Finally, Sara Messinger and Kiku Ichihara received awards in the Barney School of Business.
