Andy’s Indie Artist Spotlight: Guster’s Reverb Catches On

[caption id="attachment_2179" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Courtesy of Burlingtonfreepress.com"][/caption] For a band that’s been around for quite a while, the caliber of musicianship and lyricism that initially attracted fans has remained constant fueling the drive of a great sound. Guster, a quartet of gentlemen from Boston, Mass., is celebrating their 19th year of existence by continuing to make an impact on the world both musically and in the environmental sense. Although the group has currently been on hiatus from the studio, riding a four year gap since their latest 2006 release “Ganging Up On The Sun,” Guster has definitely been hard at work on the touring front. Marking a huge year for not only their own touring staff, but those of major music headliners, 2004 saw the birth of Reverb, a company dedicated to minimizing major tour’s environmental impacts. Founded by Guster guitarist Adam Gardener and his wife Lauren Sullivan, the company’s services have grown exponentially spreading since its debut. Adapted by artists such as Jack Johnson, John Mayer and The Dave Matthews Band, Reverb’s approach to a no environmental impact tour seems to be catching on. While working with Reverb, Guster still manages to tour non-stop. Recently touring across the country continuing the 2007 Crocs’ Next Step Campus Tour’s message of lessening environmental impact, Guster’s strides always bring them back to their music. With their 2009 college campus tour behind them, Guster still maintains their message of promoting going green and staying aware of individual impact. By getting their audiences involved and making resources available to them, Guster makes the most of their tours. As an active band that has always seemed to maintain their composure while experimentally expanding their horizons, Guster has headed back to the studio in anticipation of their newest release. Rumored to be out by September of this year, I foresee great things to come from a band that is more than qualified instrumentally to produce brand new material while sticking to their distinct sound.
